Happy September 1st!!!!

September is Self-Improvement Month, and what better time than the month that houses Back to School, End of Summer aaaaaaand My Birthday!
I always look forward to September. The weather, the getting ready for fall, the fact that I get one year older…it’s just a great time of year.
In honour of Self-Improvement Month, I got to thinking about areas of my life that I would like to improve on.

Number 1 has to be organization…I tend to get very excited about tasks and projects and just jump right in without a plan. More recently I’ve begun to keep an agenda and think about the best way to keep my important documents together – running a business makes this latter task imperative and I really want to do things right and not always be searching for things and turning my room upside down to find anything. It can also be a matter of professionalism – though I pride myself in never being late or missing appointments (I tend to be more unorganized in my personal life), organization is a skill that can really take stress out of your day and ensure that you are on top of what you need to be on top of.

Number 2 is going to be positive thoughts. I realized today that I tend to prepare for the worst when going into a situation that I’m unsure of. The perfect example: I literally just returned to my apartment in Victoria after being in Calgary for 4 months…My roommate and I sublet the apartment and as I was the first one of us to get home, I was worried about the state that I would find my apartment in. Think visions of walking into a garbage-filled smelly apartment with my belongings strewn all over the place. Irrational and unrealistic, I know. My mom said to me “why prepare for the worst? Why not prepare for the very best?” I didn’t have a good answer for her so I decided that I had better just prepare for the very best and give my sublets some credit. Low and behold, I walked into a pristine, clean and well-taken care of apartment.

Thanks for the advice, Mom xo I could have saved myself some worry there.

I think self-improvement is a process, and one that we can have a lot of fun with if we try. Why not think about one area you would like to improve on and make one small change to your daily routine? It could be anything at all, but it could end up making room for a heck of a lot more positivity in your life.

  1. Some people twice your age don’t even have a handle on this stuff…you’re inspiring 🙂
Looking forward to the next subject that tickles your fancy xo
